Each year the League of American Bicyclists publishes a list of the most bicycle friendly states. Click here to see the complete list in PDF format. If you live in the Pacific Northwest you probably already know that Washington consistently ranks number one for two-wheeler fans. If there was an award for most improved, it would have to go to Florida in 2010. They shot from 32nd place in 2009 to 12th place in 2010.
The Bicycle Friendly States program ranks states based on a 95-item questionnaire that evaluates a state's commitment to bicycling and covers six key areas: legislation, policies and programs, infrastructure, education and encouragement, evaluation and planning, and enforcement.
